Furniture and Appliance Glass

For Mass Production Glass Processing Line

Furniture and appliance glass is a high-volume, low-tolerance operation. Thousands of identical parts are produced, and they all must fit into the same screw and socket on the assembly line. Deka's vertical grinding, drilling, and CNC machines maintain this repeatability throughout the shift.

In mass production, repeatability is the key factor.

Refrigerator shelves, oven doors, stovetop panels, tabletops, cabinet doors — all these parts go through an assembly line to be produced using the same mold. A deviation of 1 mm in a single piece means that piece will stop working. In manual processing, edge quality and hole position vary depending on the operator and shift; automated vertical processing eliminates this variability. Appliance glass is also tempered because it is subjected to thermal and mechanical stress; this necessitates that all hole and edge processing be completed before firing in the kiln.

Consistent quality
Consistent edge and hole placement across thousands of parts. Elimination of part variability that causes delays on the assembly line.
High quantity
Continuous feed vertical line operation; constant cycle time and predictable daily output throughout the shift.
Rapid model transition
In a model change, the program changes, not the mold. It becomes possible to produce different product families on the same production line.

Frequently asked questions about furniture and appliance glass.

I produce thousands of the same part; which machine would be more suitable?
If the work is repetitive and the hole pattern is fixed, separate grinding and drilling machines operate faster; the cycle time remains short because each station performs a single task. In contrast, if the part geometry is complex — pockets, sections, holes of different diameters — a vertical CNC machining center shortens the overall time by performing all of them in a single setup.
What should the edges be like on parts like refrigerator shelves?
If the edge is visible and touchable by the user, polishing is preferred. If the edge fits into a profile or frame, flat beveling is sufficient. In both cases, if the part is to be tempered, the edge quality directly affects the furnace waste.
How much downtime is there during model changes?
In vertical CNC machining centers, model changes are a program selection; there are no mechanical mold changes. In grinding and drilling machines, however, thickness and position adjustments are made via the control panel. This makes it practical to produce different product families on the same line.
I work with screen printing or painted glass, will that be a problem?
Screen printing and painting processes are mechanical processes. later The process involves finishing the edges and holes first, then applying the print, and finally tempering the glass. Washing becomes critical at this stage because the adhesion of the printing ink depends entirely on a clean surface.

Technical and line integration

How do I connect this line to my existing production flow?
Deka machines can operate both independently and in-line. In continuous production, integration is achieved at the conveyor and signal level; the machine feeds while waiting for the next station to be ready. If you share your existing line layout and control infrastructure, we can determine the connection method together.
Is vertical machining efficient for small parts?
Yes, but the minimum glass size is limited by the machine's conveying system. If you are working with very small parts, please share your minimum dimensions; the machine's conveying configuration will be selected accordingly.
What is the consumption rate of diamond tools?
Tool life depends on glass thickness, feed rate, and the flow rate and cleanliness of the coolant. In high-volume series production, tool cost is a significant item in total operating expenses; correct speed and feed rate adjustment and water regime significantly reduce this cost. These parameters are adjusted according to your product during commissioning.
How do we calculate production capacity?
Edge length, number of holes, and glass thickness per piece determine the cycle time. If you share your daily target quantity and typical piece dimensions, we can calculate together which station will be the bottleneck and how many lines will be needed.
